CU Soon - The Hello Postcards
CU Soon was a series of performance works for humans and satellites.
In 2023 Thompson created a collection of electronic greeting 'postcards' encoded as radio signals which she sent to satellites orbiting the planet. These greetings travelled into space and were returned by the satellites, scrambled, and reassembled into something new.
'The Hello Postcards' brings together all the versions of the Hello postcard received by ground stations across Europe, from Denmark to Russia. These are images that have travelled through space, had a personal encounter with a satellite and been returned to Earth completely transformed.
All images in this collection were received from satellite CAS-5A.
